Who turned off Summer?

When I start reaching for a jumper in the morning, I know it's a sure sign that something is up with the weather.

It's not all bad news - there's no scarf and I've no intention of even thinking about tights, but today, it was definitely jumper weather.

And what better way to get ahead of the game thinking about Autumn, than stocking up on knitwear now.  It's probably the most year round essential item for anyone living on this little island with the most random of weather (Ireland, you count too... I have spent enough time over there in the land of my mother to know that one thing you DEFINITELY need all year round in Ireland is a jumper.  And wellies).

Today, I'm not talking about any normal jumper.  I'm talking about my next best neutral (that isn't a neutral neutral)l to leopard print and that's a stripe.  Not your classic breton but a "pimp my breton" version.

More texture, more colours, more slouch, just MORE.  These will be a faithful now for those cooler days (like today) and come Autumn, you're already set.

I wear mine with jeans as I have on today - a no brainer of an off duty, on the sofa, weekend dress down outfit.  I also love them with skirts though, stripe and print together works really well.  Not to mention, wide leg trousers both cropped and full length.

First up some sales bargains at My Theresa where there's another 20% off all sale.

Polo neck now (LOVE this one... ) from Velvet again.

Another 20% off extra at My Theresa.

From red to pink.  Absolutely blooming ADORE this one.

Staying with colour at & Other Stories.

And with a difference again at & Other Stories.

Back to monochrome at M&S.

Wider arms again at Autograph in navy.

Off kilter wider stripes in a thinner knit at Limited Collection.

Probably my favourite neckline though for this sort of jumper is slash neck.  I find it super flattering.

And then the one I have which I absolutely adore.  The perfect antidote to a rainy first day of the holiday.  Couldn't write it could you?

And here I am in my jumper for a total slobsville of a day.  I made it to the supermarket and came home with the entire contents of the ice cream section, as well as a whole host of other random stuff as I didn't bother making a list.  Monumental shopping fail.  But I did manage to snaffle Beauty & the Beast, the 12yr old is going to make us all popcorn - we are winning at Monday.  In a way, dare I say it - the crappola weather does make a duvet day totally justified.  But tomorrow, could we have the sun back please?

Finishing with two out out dresses - one from last Thursday night for cocktails with the girls.  This dress has to be THE bargain of the year last year.  I don't think you would ever ever guess it was from H&M.

Then from yesterday, what was supposed to be a BBQ with friends but weather stopped play so we had a lovely impromptu dinner instead.  Four families, ten children and a lot of wine...  Oh and a new dress that a lovely friend gave me as it didn't work on her.  Re. Sult!  I blooming love it.

Tomorrow, we are off en famille (ok so me and three children, obviously not the husband..) to Westfield.  What could possibly go wrong?!

  1. Oooh!
Some of those M&S ones look good. Just wondering if I can justify another breton sweater (just received a gorgeous cashmere one from Boden that I've yet to wear - cream and blue, with a multicolour accent). I think I've got about 6. I'm all for a round or scoop neck, it's a boob thing. I like the look of a slash neck, it just doesn't do much for me.
I may be saved by the fact that the one I like the best is viscose/ polyamide, now if it was merino it would possibly already winging it's way to me. The cotton cream and navy one is great but too similar to two of the ones I already own.
Today the navy silk blouse I ordered from Me & Em arrived, a bargin at £49. I was wise enough to size down, so a size ten was great. Even the sleeves aren't ten miles too long (although I may move the buttons, so they sit better on my slim wrists). I can't wait to wear it, probably with skinny jeans.

    1. I will say that viscose jumpers don't bobble like merino though!! And yay for the Me+Em blouse! You're all set for Autumn!

  2. I snagged a navy and white striped fine knit jumper from Zara at the start of the sales. Cost about 8 quid, well chuffed! It has gathered-cuff long sleeves, so just slightly out of the ordinary.

    1. It is supposed to be oversized - I'm wearing the mdeium BUT I am 5ft10... I originally had the small but went back and exchanged it for the medium as I wanted the arms longer. Hope that helps x
