Oh good grief, they're like buses.

It never rains but it pours.  And at the moment, our luck is in as a) it's not actually raining, in fact it's glorious sunshine, I may even get my legs out again tomorrow and for a rather large night out and b) I have two discount codes to report.

Firstly, a 20% off everything at M&S - SEP14EM is the code.  Clothing, homeware and beauty.  Knock yourself out. From today till 23rd September.

But I'm M&S'd out for today and so on to discount code number two.

Oh hello 15% off at Mint Velvet.  YEE HA!  Someone did mention on a comment the other day that there was a rumour that there was going to be a 15% off code on a catalogue - which I had sat on the kitchen island.  And lo and behold yes, there was 15% and free delivery AND free returns.  Someone hide the credit card quickly.  Code is AW14MV15 till 30th September 2014.

So it would have been rude not to have a quick look with a cup of coffee earlier and I sat there with the catalogue just drooling.  Well done Mint Velvet on some really great styling and some gorgeous gorgeous ready made outfits.  Where do I start with my favourites?

And no, I haven't been asked by Mint Velvet to do this and I am getting diddly squat from them - bar 15% of some new trousers I have my eye on.

So I'll start with them.  Coated skinnies.  I love.  I do need new ones (I'm not going to say my Cos ones finally don't fit me but they finally don't fit me.  The first casualty of my total lack of gym visitation slash any form of exercise since May.  I definitely am working on pleather ones too (watch this space and in fact be prepared to avert your eyes for some of the photos.  Dear.  God.)

But talking of coated ones, I love their jeans and everyone I know who tries them on loves their skinny jeans.   My favourite are the triple zip and they now do a double zip in a coated.  AND they do three different lengths online (not instore - online only)

Reno Black Coated Jean £79 (pre discount)

These are the washed black that I rave about to everyone who will listen. £69 pre discount (I swear they used to call them triple zip jeans... oh well they now call the Zip Detail but they do have three zips.  Not to confused anyone or anything...)

Now there are loads of things at Mint Velvet that I've seen and have benchmarked for posts in the coming days - on the blog next week I'm planning on some smarter going out outfits and dare I say, my obsession with dresses takes on a new slant (combined with the former idea - oh it all makes sense, honestly).

So today, I thought I'd have a focus on the new direction that MV seem to have taken in their current catalogue - Preppy.

Yup, preppy, not something I personally would normally associate with MV but I think they're working it ok.

Love the navy coats

Navy knitted pea coat £159 pre discount.

Ink Asymmetric Wool Blend Coat £199 pre discount

Not forgetting the fabulous stripe top in navy and grey - I can't being to think how useful this would be £39

Boots - well they have some amazing options which I know I've featured before but they're now 15% off but these in grey are my fave (probably because I have very similar which I wear all the time)

Grey Evie Stacked Heel Boot £139 pre discount.

And my other fave look from the catalgoue is grey.  Oh Mint Velvet do grey so so so well.  The ideal winter neutral to mix with monochrome, looks fab with navy as well.  Not to mention pink.  Just the most wonderful shade.

My picks would be the star jumper £69 pre discount - YUM. (boots and jeans again - see how useful?!)

And their accessory selection rocks.  Go stars and go grey.

Grey lurex start print scarf £45 pre discount

Snood Grey Tassel Snood £29

So fear not, I will be back with more Mint Velvet picks for my going out ideas - principally as I have a very important day out next Friday (I am beyond excited - honestly I haven't been out out out in ages - it seems.....)  but in the meantime, go forth and see what goodies there are.

Finishing with my outfit from today.  Yes they are new shoes.  A gift to myself for my daughter's 10 year old birthday.  Happy Birthday to her and huge congrats to The Husband and myself for getting her to age ten.  Result!  This perhaps does make me feel older than reaching 40.  A glass of wine may have been drunk.....

To compensate for the new shoes, I have very very old clothes.  All complete favourites which owe me nothing - thank you Zara - you don't make them like you used to.

Navy and white striped linen tee - Zara
Straight leg jeans turned up - Zara
Navy blazer - Zara
White leather tennis shoes - Zara
Tan bag - Prada

Feeling slightly emotional on my gorgeous girl's 10th birthday however I need to get a grip as tomorrow I have 17 boys coming for tea.  Yes you read that right 17 boys.  Aged 6.  Belated birthday party.  With one of those gaming trucks which, fingers crossed, they should all disappear into after pizza.  It will be fine.  What can possibly go wrong? *reaches for the wine as she types*........

    1. I will confess I did - it's still sat in the box so the jury is out but I LOVE it - it's just been too warm to wear it.. I've not seen anything else I love love though so I may well keep it. RIght dresses, I have it in a 10 and it's perfect for me - I'm usually a 10 though so I do think it's true to size. Hope that helps? I don't think it would be too long on you, it is short on me for sure.

  12. Long is only a 32 inch inside leg!! How crap is that, not long enough. Nice stuff there this season though. I'm not normally a fan of theirs really, they remind me of an old woman's all saints. But this stuff is nice!!!

    1. ha ha ha I so know what you mean. But they've definitely got some different bits this season - or maybe they're just styling them differently. Actually they do have more plain stuff. Normally it's all very detailed heavy. And a 32 is better than nothing! Ok for skinnies - well better than fooking Zara!!

  14. Haha, sorry! That's what I always thought when I looked before. However the above is much improved. I'd wear that. Not sure if that's good or bad. :0)

    1. There is definitely a divergence in their styling, I'd say but they do still have the old classics that some people love. It's definitely one of the more popular places on the high street for ladies who are passed Topshop! I think it works.
